Preservation and Continuity.

The purpose of Shinjin-ryu Okinawa-te Kyokai is preservation. It exists to record, protect, and pass on the name, history, and family tradition connected to Kensei Tamaki Sensei, Katsumi Tamaki Sensei, and the continuation of Shinjin-ryu Okinawa-te.

This site is intentionally focused. It is not presented as a general karate resource, a public syllabus, or a commercial system. Its purpose is more specific: to preserve the story of Shinjin-ryu, the Tamaki family, the Tamaki Dojo, and the tradition entrusted to those connected with it.

The name Shinjin-ryu was given by Katsumi Tamaki Sensei in 1979 following the passing of his father, Kensei Tamaki Sensei. In that sense, the name itself is an act of remembrance. It carries a family connection, a martial identity, and a responsibility to preserve what came before.

Continuity does not mean simply repeating the past without thought. It means maintaining a connection to the people, principles, and spirit from which the art came, while ensuring that the transmission remains honest, respectful, and grounded.

A Simple Line of Continuity.

The continuity of Shinjin-ryu Okinawa-te is recorded through people, place, and responsibility. It begins with the memory and influence of Kensei Tamaki Sensei, is given formal identity by Katsumi Tamaki Sensei, continues through the Tamaki family, and is preserved through the work of the Kyokai.

The Kyokai also recognises the importance of those who have supported the transmission and organisation of the art outside Japan. Their role is not to replace the family line, but to help preserve, record, and support the tradition with care.

For this reason, the site remains deliberately modest in scope. It does not need to contain every aspect of karate history, terminology, grading, or training theory. Those subjects have value, but they are not the central purpose of this website.

The central purpose is preservation: the name, the people, the family connection, the crest, the Tamaki Dojo, and the continuing responsibility to keep Shinjin-ryu Okinawa-te visible and respected.

In this way, continuity is not only a matter of rank or organisation. It is a matter of memory, conduct, and responsibility.
